Installing Netsweeper Using Windows Command Line

This article explains how to install the Lenovo Netsweeper client on an individual device using the Windows Command Line. For instructions on deploying the Lenovo Netsweeper client to multiple devices, refer to Deploying Netsweeper Installer Using Intune.

Prerequisites

  1. Create a Filtering Policy Group in Netsweeper's webAdmin.
  2. Download the appropriate Netsweeper client MSI installer for your system.
  3. Run the MSI installer using the command line or deploy it via a software deployment tool. 
  4. Ensure the installer is run with local Administrator privileges.
    To run it manually: open Command Prompt (cmd) as an Administrator.

Installing Netsweeper

To install the Netsweeper client with the desired configuration, use the following MSI command-line parameters:

Windows MSI Configuration for NA Production Environment 
msiexec /i "c:\path\to\installer.msi" CONFIGEDIT="-p https://filter.usacloud8.netsweeper.com:3431 -y brandname" /qn 

Windows MSI Configuration for the Netsweeper UK Production Environment msiexec /i "c:\path\to\installer.msi" CONFIGEDIT="-p https://filter.ukcloud8.netsweeper.com:3431 -y brandname" /qn 

Windows MSI Configuration for the Netsweeper EU Production Environment msiexec /i "c:\path\to\installer.msi" CONFIGEDIT="-p https://filter.eucloud.netsweeper.com:3431 -y brandname" /qn 

 Important steps for altering your command line install

  1. Replace c:\path\to\installer.msi with the appropriate MSI file name and location of the MSI file.
    Example:  "C:\Netsweeper\Netsweeper Client Filter - 12.30.54.54 win64.msi". 
  2. Replace brandname with the name of your organization's brand.
    Example:  MyOrg-Brand .
  3. Be sure that that Policy Server matches the Netsweeper environment of your webAdmin account (NA, UK, or EU).
